ProblemScape

An algebra role playing game for middle school students. The goal of this game is to provide students, especially those struggling with math, a fun and immersive way to learn algebra. My roles in this project are: creative director, programmer, and music composer.

Map Design: Concept Art

The images below showcase my concept design of the game’s map. The colored lines depict a distance/time correlation for different paths.

Our developers referred to these specs to create the map.

Programming: Teachpad

I worked on a feature called the Teachpad, where the player instructs an NPC how to solve an expression

Music: The Soundtrack

Here’s some of my favorites from the soundtrack I created for Problemscape

ProblemScape: Central Arithma

This track plays in the central hub of Arithma, which is a busy village filled with wandering NPCs and shops.

ProblemScape: To the Lenser!

This track plays in the outskirts of Arithma, which is a barren canyon. The player will solve puzzles to cross the gaps between plateaus.

ProblemScape: Paintball with a PiRat

This track plays during a boss battle, where the player has to defeat a PiRat

ProblemScape: Healer’s Hamlet

This track plays in a peaceful grassy plains that surrounds a simple hamlet.
